Zine Stand

The first step is to download the template and print it.  Please be sure to setup the print job such that it does not shrink the PDF to the printable area.  You can either print it on standard 8.5 x 11 cardstock or plain copy paper and use it as a guide to make it out of some other material, e.g. a cereal box...

These instructions assume you have printed the template onto cardstock.

The first step is to use a straight edge to score your folds, all folds are marked as dotted lines on the template.

The first step is to score all your fold lines with a straight edge.  This will make folding easier and more straight.  All fold lines are marked as dotted lines on the template.

Next step is to make all your cuts on the template.  Cuts lines are solid.  On page 2 ignore the print margins and cut all the way to the bottom of the page.

Next start folding page 1.  Start with the middle fold line and each dubsequent fold should form a long rectangular box.  The top tab in the second image should be glued or taped together.

The side pieces that were cut from page 2 can be folded such that the "glue tab" text is folded towards you.  These parts are glued (or taped) to each side of the box you just folded from page 1 using the glue tabs, where the taller half of the side piece it towards the part of the box that doesn't have the hole cut in it.

You can then take the remaining piece of of page two and fold it in half along the fold line.  This will serve as the back of the stand.  You can use a little glue to keep it in place, but some supporting tape isn't a bad idea.

At this point you might want to add tape or glue wherever there might seem to be gaps or loose points on the stand.  Then finally on the bottom of the stand you overlap the remaining cardstock by about an 1/8 of an inch and tape the bottom.

Your stand is now complete!  It's ready to decorate as you see fit and display your zines for the world to see!
